My name is Devin Mone, and I’m the founder of MyDoc24/7.
I started MyDoc24/7 after more than 20 years in emergency medicine because I became frustrated watching good people sit for hours in waiting rooms for problems that could often be handled quickly, safely, and compassionately without ever stepping foot into an ER or urgent care.
I’ve watched parents panic over a sick child at 2 AM, travelers lose entire vacations sitting in waiting rooms, and exhausted firefighters, police officers, nurses, medics, and military personnel spend what little free time they have just trying to get simple medical questions answered.
The reality is that hospitals, urgent cares, and corporate healthcare systems have become businesses first. Patients sit for hours waiting to be seen, only for someone to walk in, stare at a computer more than the patient, order expensive tests, and walk back out. Many leave feeling unheard, frustrated, and financially burdened with bills costing hundreds or sometimes thousands of dollars.
What I learned early in medicine is that people simply want somebody to listen. Everybody has a story. Everybody has a concern. And every concern deserves to be treated as important. I was taught a long time ago that even if it may not seem like an emergency to you, it may absolutely feel like an emergency to the patient.
That’s what emergency medicine really teaches you — not just how to manage emergencies, but how to recognize what is dangerous, what only feels scary, and how to guide people through uncertainty with honesty, experience, and compassion.
I got interested in medicine at 14 years old as a junior firefighter and ambulance explorer, and those same values still drive me today. Whether it’s helping a traveler overseas navigate a foreign healthcare system, advising a captain 30 miles offshore whether they truly need to turn a boat around, or helping someone avoid wasting an entire day in an urgent care waiting room, the mission remains the same: real people deserve real access to experienced medical professionals who genuinely care.
